I'm Stephanie, mom of three, former teacher, and baby enthusiast. I've been cloth diapering and babywearing since my daughter (now three years old!) was a newborn. My parenting philosophy can be summed up in three words:
Evidence. Intuition. Survival.
I love research. I am a history teacher and former elementary school teacher. Research defined both of those parts of my life. When I took home my daughter, I learned that research would only get so far. But, I quickly developed my own intuition (and so did my husband!). Finally, I learned that parenting requires flexibility, and sometimes, you do what you need to do, even if it wasn't in the plan.
I became an Our Baby Class instructor, a babywearing mentor, and a cloth diaper educator for one reason: I love supporting families. I was lucky to find a close tribe of moms in my early days of motherhood. I don't know what I would have done without them, and I don't want moms to feel isolated. My goal is to provide a non-judgmental atmosphere for parents and caregivers to get to know each other, support each other, and learn about the ins and outs of parenting.
What do I do when I'm not working with families? I write homeschool history curriculum for a great company called History Unboxed. I also raise chickens, garden, and volunteer for living history programs. I homeschool my children and chronicle our adventures over at my personal blog, Hanson's Ridge.
